Mail Box Size Limits
For CEC accounts, the size limit for your inbox is 100Mb. The size limit for your personal network drive is 500Mb.
When your inbox approaches 100Mb, a warning message with the subject "Excessively large system mailbox" is automatically sent, advising you that the Inbox needs to be cleaned out or it will be moved to your personal network drive on the following Friday. If your Inbox is moved on the next Friday, another message will automatically be sent, telling you the name of the file your Inbox was copied into on your home directory. It will be named SystemMailbox.yyyymmdd where yyyymmdd is the day it was created.
Logon to CEC SquirrelMail Select Folders from the horizontal menu. You will see the folder that your Inbox was copied into. Highlight the folder and select Subscribe. If you want to move some mail back to your Inbox, select the mail you want to move and from the "Move selected To" dropdown box select INBOX. More information here
Setting Up Accounts With AT&T/SWB as ISP Provider
If after setting up an IMAPS email client you can read email but receive an error when send outgoing mail the problem may be with your ISP provider. In the St Louis area AT&T/SWB blocks outgoing email connections using the default port 25. This link explains the reason for blocking the port and possible solutions. One solution is to configure your outgoing mail server to use the AT&T mail servers as explained on their support page. Another solution it to establish a VPN connection to the university mail server. These are cecvpn.seas.wustl.edu for @cec email accounts or seasvpn.seas.wustl.edu for @seas email accounts. This link explains how to establish a VPN connection.
